Fairfield Iowa Aikikai's Holiday Trip to Iowa City Aikikai

Fairfield, Iowa

The children from Fairfield Iowa AIkikai make an annual holiday trip to Iowa City Aikikai. City hosts this trip each year. Many of the adults sacrifice their time and energies by showing up on a bitterly cold December Saturday afternoon and work out with the children. This year's experience was unbelievable. Eleven cars departed Fairfield for the 72 mile trek to Iowa city. Some of the quotes from the participating kids were:

"Training on the big tatami is fun but hurts"
"Watching the adult aikidoka demonstrate technique is awesome"
"Watching Sensei Mo, John, Aaron and Jackson take breakfalls is funny"
"The pizza party after the class was better thie year"

Fairfield Iowa Aikikai has a Children's Pledge, which is recited during each class. The success of this dojo's program is the children's commitment to this pledge, to the dojo, and to eachother.
