About Me

IELTS Writing.

So, you decided to prepare for IELTS. How to start preparations for part of Writing?

First, with the structure of the test. IELTS written module, both general and academic, consists of 2 parts, in general, requiring 500 Word Essay from the examining examination (better than a bit more, but no less) - words are weighty, on the subject, in the right style and, of course, grammatically faithful.

4 main evaluation criteria:
IELTS Writing Criteria- Task Achievement / Response (content literally - performing a task, matching the task, as you exactly answered each job of tasks)

 - Coherence and CoHesion (Connectivity, logicality and sequence)

 · Lexical Resource (lexical resource, how appropriate and interesting vocabular you used) and, Last But Not Least, (last, but not the last in importance)

 · Grammatical Range and Accuracy (as far as a variety of grammar you use and how correctly).

"Starting" too short response, learned in advance and OFF Topic - not on the topic, that is, not the corresponding task. If errors are evaluated, more points are removed for those that interfere with the understanding written.

Differences General Ielts from ACADEMIC IELTS
In the general module (General Ielts) - 2 tasks: writing a formal or informal letter (which will fall into a task) and essay. The style of the first task depends on who is addressed to your letter - a representative of the university, whom you ask to solve the problem with a noisy neighbor, the director of the Airlines to which you contact to find a missing bag, or a friend who will advise you, which sports club choose.

The answer to the second task should be formal, however, slightly less formal and more Personal, personal, Personal Statement Advice Experts than in Academic Ielts.

Themes are selected such that generate a lot of discussions: whether it is worth banning smoking in public places, who should pay for nursing homes - a state or relatives, how to solve environmental issues (Environmental Issues).

In the academic module (Academic Ielts) all the same 2 tasks, but: first - a description of a linear graph, or a histogram, or a circular chart, or a table, or a process, or a graphic scheme, or a cycle circuit, or a map, or a combined task (again - What will come), and the second essay of the academic plan.

In the first task you need to analyze, describe, compare, in the second - to express your opinion about some kind of problem, weighing and against some kind of question, to propose solutions. Both tasks must be written in academic, formal style.
